Week 4/16 Action 4: Get 100% Behind Women on 50/50 Day!

For many of us, this election exposed that misogyny runs deep in America. With respect to representation in government, the facts are grim. The United States ranks 100 out of 193 on a list of countries classified by descending order of the percentage of women elected to national legislatures/parliaments.

But guess what else this election did. It inspired millions of us to rise up. Our survey results have shown that most of our activists are women.

It is time to double down on working towards a more gender inclusive America and world. It is time for a massive national and global conversation on what it’s going to take to get to 50/50 - a more gender balanced world that’s better for everyone.

On May 10th, join 50/50 Day - when thousands of organizations, companies, schools, museums, libraries and homes will gather in a global conversation about what it will take to get to a more gender-balanced world in all sectors of society: business, politics, culture, home.

Here’s how:

1. Watch the 2 minute trailer about 50/50 Day, led by Tiffany Shlain, Emmy-nominated filmmaker and founder of The Webby Awards and her team at Let it Ripple Film Studio.

2. Sign up to host a 50/50 Day screening and discussion event at your company, school, organization or home on May 10th. If you sign up, you will receive a free printed poster and discussion kit (while supplies last). There are already 3400 + screenings in 37 states and 27 countries.

3. On May 10, gather with your crew for 50/50 Day to watch a 20 minute film that will be shown that day “50/50: Rethinking the Past, Present & Future of Women + Power." Use the discussion kit to facilitate a discussion with your group, and/or participate in a global Q & A with thought leaders on gender equality. Find all the details and materials here.
