Week 2/5 Action 3: Give Our Senators an Earful

There is a lot happening in Congress this week and, if you are going to call your Senators, you may as well kill two birds with one stone (we will deal with other birds next week). This week All-of-us must address: 1) Betsy DeVos and 2) The stolen Supreme Court seat.

Betsy DeVos
Resistance from all-of-us has slowed, though not yet decisively prevented, Trump’s terrible cabinet picks from taking office. But with the defection of two Republican senators to NO on Betsy DeVos, we have a real shot of preventing someone without experience, knowledge, preparation, or vision, from becoming Secretary of Education. Elizabeth Warren has said "it is hard to imagine a less qualified or more dangerous person" for the position.

Call your Senator in advance of the vote planned on Tuesday and tell them: NO on DeVos.

Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch
This one is simple. You may have forgotten that the Republicans stole a Supreme Court seat when they refused to even consider Judge Merrick Garland, President Obama’s nominee for the seat vacated by former Justice Scalia. Mitch McConnell bragged--”One of my proudest moments was when I told Obama, “You will not fill this Supreme Court Vacancy.” Other Republicans vowed to keep the Supreme Court vacant for four years if Hillary Clinton was elected.

Now, Trump has nominated Neil M. Gorsuch to serve on the Supreme Court. Setting aside Gorsuch’s policies, which we oppose, this seat was stolen. It is on this ground alone that that our our Senators should oppose him.

So, get those phones ready. All-of-us must give our Senators an earful this week.

Here’s how:

Call (or visit) your Senators and use this script, which addresses both issues.
