Week 12/25 Action 3: Make Your Elected Officials Contact List, and Check It Twice

Let’s be honest. It’s a bit annoying to keep looking up all these phone numbers for our elected officials. So as this year comes to a close, all-of-us should devote a few minutes to some personal admin and get those contacts ready to deploy at the tap (or two) of a finger.

And while we’re at it, let’s plug in the contact info for our local media outlets. As we said last week, leveraging our local media is going to be a crucial tool in our Resistance Toolbox. We are going to help our journalists report on which elected officials have been naughty or nice.

So, pull out your phones (or dust off your Rolodex) and get busy.

Here is how:

1. Add your elected officials’ phone numbers to your phone contacts and/or email address book.

Not sure who represents you? Locate all of your elected officials (from national to local) with this tool.

You can also use this list, which includes your Senators and Representatives local (in state) numbers.

2. Find contact information for your local news media, and keep it handy. Make note of the outlets’ guidelines for letters to the editor, Op-Eds, etc.: most have specific word counts and other requirements for publication.
